So after 20 years, what exactly did the US accomplish in Afghanistan?

I guess the mission was to stabilize the country. Help them establish a solid, democratic government. Train their armies to be respectable and some day self sufficient. Weaken the Taliban's hold in the region.

Now after 20 years, the US pulls out suddenly. And within weeks, the entire country looks to be completely overrun with the Taliban. The Taliban appears to be on the brink of controlling the entire country.

So what exactly was accomplished? Besides wasting tons of tax payer's money and losing American lives. For what?

Truly sad and disgusting.

Yup. And things have been that way for awhile now.

Ive said this a couple times already.. Always knew most of our government was corrupt. Was always somewhat skeptical of most media outlets. But this last 18 months how really illuminated just how dirty, corrupt, and dishonest our government officials and the media are. It's disgusting. And not sustainable.

The US as it once was is dead. Only question now, is just how different is this country going to look in 10 years when the dust settles. I'm afraid it's gonna be pretty ugly.

EVERYBODY knows a long term war in Afghanistan is a losing proposition. It ruined Russia. But politicians had other goals, not in the best interests of US citizens.

And you are correct, this place is sucked dry, and we will find a new place, soon.

I feel so sad for those families that lost someone fighting there specifically in the last 10-15 years. We should have gone in, kicked ass and get Bin Laden who fleed that country in the early days of the war. ALL that money, time and lives poured in to that shithole.

For many of these clowns in Washington, the (R) or (D) next to their names means jack shit. What it really comes down to, is they are out for themselves. Cutting deals that benefit them, make them more powerful, and provide generational wealth for their families. Numero uno for them, America second.

This has been going on for quite some time. But with the rise of social media and other outlets, it's far more out in the open now. They can't hide everything. They will certainly try with having big tech in their pockets censoring anything and everything they want censored. But the toothpaste is out of the tube at this point.

For the most part, I agree with you. No matter how long we were there, we weren't going to ever achieve our social agenda there.

But the plan here at the end, has been absolutely botched. We needed to leave. Just not like this.
